I can’t believe how much has changed! We’ve had 3 permablitzes (1 full Saturday, and 2 after school sessions) and have done a tonne of work! Thank you to the crew of committed helpers who have been there ready and willing to get dirty!
A garden workshop for newspaper sheet mulching and the final seeding of the cover crop, White Dutch Clover, were done earlier this month. We are very close to finishing! This portion of the job will be nothing compared to the hard work done so far. Everyone is encouraged to come out and see what’s been happening.
Speaking of changes, I’ve been able to get quite a few plants and shrubs from Permaculture Calgary Members, and some Millarville families. All plants are edible and in most cases native to the area. So far I have transplanted the following. If you have any of the* items and are able to split/share, we are hoping to plant more:
Egyptian Walking Onion Garlic Mint* Garden Dock Violets and Violas* Flax Jerusalem Artichoke Nanking Cherry Saskatoon* |
Ostrich Fern* Raspberry* High Bush Cranberry Boarage Lovage Comfrey Gooseberry* Horseradish Asparagus* |
Creeping Thyme* Currant Rhubarb* Day Lily Chive Chokecherry Cranberry Echinacea* |
