Millarville Community School Coach’s Corner

By Christine Lederer, MCS Learning Coach

A Learning Coach in FSD is responsible to plan for and address learning needs of students with diagnosed learning needs. In addition, she is responsible to ensure teachers have access to supports and to ensure Individual Learning Plan goals are met within a classroom situation.

Coachs Corner graphic 1At MCS, we strive to exhibit the attributes of an internationally minded person. The characteristics in the above graphic are what the IB defines as the attributes of the Learner Profile. As an IB World School, we hold these 10 values dearly at MCS. We are always encouraging our staff, students, parents, and community members to display and celebrate these attributes.

Coachs Corner graphic 2We are using the IB Action Cycle to guide and direct our interactions in a more committed way this year. We hope parents will also use the “language of the PYP” with children at home!

And lastly, I found a great link to some “back to school” resources at the Canadian Living magazine website. Please check all the ideas for breakfasts and lunches, and learning apps: http://www.canadianliving.com/relationships/family_connections/everything_you_need_for_back_to_school.php/
