Millarville Community School: A New Year Welcomes New Faces

Happy New Year!

On behalf of the whole staff of MCS we hope you had a restful and enjoyable time with your families over the holiday season. As we start the new year, we have some new changes to our MCS lineup of staff. Welcome to Mrs. Cindy tenBroek who will be teaching some of the Grade 2 classes until the end of the year. A second welcome to Mrs. Lisa Bates-Grover who will be in our front office on Thursdays and Fridays for Mrs. Gregson who is temporarily reducing her hours until the spring.

MCS - ski day 2This year for the first time, we have opened up an opportunity for all students in Grades 1-8 to have lessons in downhill skiing or snowboarding. With one trip to Castle (Grades 5-8) and a second to Nakiska (1-4), we have hit the slopes on two of our provinces great ski hills. Judging from the stories and comments heard from both groups, we believe the trips were highly successful. We will continue to evaluate these two successful trips as we plan for future years. Thank-you to all of the parents who were able to join us on these trips.

MCS ski day MCS ski day 1Finally, just a quick reminder to all students and families, that during all seasons of the year, MCS has a two shoe policy. We have seen many students since the break, not wearing proper footwear to school and/or not having shoes for inside the school. Please double check with your child that they are prepared for the weather and for shoes inside the school.
