This has been a very busy three months. On January 16 our ride was cancelled because of cold weather. Instead we had a roping clinic with our leader, Jeff Blatz. We had fun trying to throw the rope. On January 23 we were able to ride and practiced softening our horses. We also worked on lead changes.
January 31 our club held its public speaking event at the Priddis Hall. Emcee for the morning was a former member Sasha Lewis. In Seniors it was Martie Blatz and Brooklyn Collard. Intermediate was Kylie Manser and Nyla Wright. Our Junior winner was Clara Blatz. The Cleavers also did a good job presenting their speeches. Judges for the Cleavers were Paige Callaway, Kathleen Arkes and Jennifer Blackie. Our member judges were Emily Ritchie, Sheila Thomson and Jacqui Reader. The club would like to thank our judges and Emcee for their time and constructive comments. We would also like to thank our Public Speaking sponsor AltaLink for their continuing support of the 4-H public speaking program. Martie Blatz, Clara Blatz and Kylie Manser all went on to Area competitions at DeWinton on February 28. Martie and Clara were successful in their age groups and went on to represent the club at District public speaking at the Davisburg Hall on March 12.
At our ride on February 20, we learned our riding instructor, Lachlan Bell, would not be continuing with the club. We will miss him and wish him all the best as he returns to Australia. We welcome Cassandra Day back who will be our riding instructor for the remainder of the year.
Anyone who has a horse and is interested in learning and having fun, we welcome new members.
