Please welcome our newest team members, Deanna Weder & Alexandra Ross! Here’s a little bit about them both.

Deanna

Deanna Weder, Economic Development Assistant, joined our team 4 months ago. Deanna is originally from Ontario, and has lived in Okotoks for the past 7 years. Her career background is in Administration/Customer Service; she worked in that area for Shaw Communications for 10 years prior to coming to the Town.

Deanna enjoys having the freedom to work independently, deal with customers and see projects through to completion which is what the Economic Development department offers her. Her position for the Town of Okotoks has her handling business license applications, the tourism logo project, being the recording secretary for various committees and much more!

Deanna, who is married with a 6 year old son, loves to cook and is a budding artist.

Welcome Deanna!

Alexandra

Alexandra Ross, Economic Development Specialist, joined our team two months ago. Alexandra was born in Germany then moved to Vancouver/Whistler about 20 years ago. She has degrees in business & economic development, psychology, political science, and completed the Economic Development program at the University of Waterloo.

Alexandra’s experience and education will complement our very busy Economic Development department. She has been active in Economic Development since 2006, most recently working in the Central Peace region near Grande Prairie; she has also worked in the Tourism industry. Some notable experiences include being involved in the 2010 Winter Olympics and the 2008 Pemberton, BC Music Festival.

Alexandra is passionate about business and economic development. Having been an entrepreneur for 10 years with a Professional Organizing business in Vancouver, she is well-positioned to provide support to businesses and entrepreneurs in Okotoks. She likes to be involved in the community, to build partnerships and support the business community.

Alexandra’s focus is the downtown business, post-secondary, tourism, for Okotoks and the region, building relationships and being an ambassador for the area. As a member of the economic development team, she will assist with building strategies, support the business community at large and other projects as they arise.

In her spare time Alexandra loves to ski, swim, hike and bike. She enjoys good food, wine, movies and loves horses. Alexandra is excited to be in Okotoks and working with the team and the organization as a whole, as well as enjoying the lifestyle and everything the community and region has to offer.

Welcome Alexandra!
