High River, AB: Effective Monday, January 18, 2016, Fire Burning Permits are now available online through the MD’s website www.mdfoothills.com. Providing direct access to Fire Burn Permits online will make it easier for residents to apply and receive burning permits in a timely manner. The application process ensures that the applicant understands and agrees to the rules of for burning material and it ensures the Foothills Fire Department has knowledge of the burn before it takes place.
Once the online application is submitted, an email from Foothills Fire Department confirming approval is issued allowing the resident to start the burn process once they have met all conditions of the permit.
“Having Burning Permits available online is going to improve the process and accessibility for residents” said Fire Chief Jim Smith. It will also make a significant impact on the ability of the Fire Department’s knowledge of controlled burns and response when needed.”
Prior to the online Burning Permit availability, residents had to find a Fire Guardian in their area and to fill out a fire permit, or apply in person at Heritage Height Fire Department. Residents will still have the option of either contacting a local Fire Guardian or applying in person at the Heritage Heights Fire Dept. The local Fire Guardian list is found online at the MD’s website.
