Macleod Trail Closure Extending up to 4 Avenue on August 1, 2014

High River, AB: Starting 6:00 a.m. August 1, 2014, the Macleod Trail closure will be extended to include the area between 3 Avenue and 4 Avenue. The closure is to allow for the rebuilding of the sidewalk for safe access to Town and Municipal offices, allow infrastructure road work to be completed and expedite the overall downtown infrastructure project. The intersection of Macleod and 4 Avenue will remain open and access to the TD Bank will also remain open.

Visitors to the Municipal Building and other businesses on the west side of Macleod Trail will need to use the laneway, which can be accessed by Macleod Trail and 1 Street. The laneway will be signed to facilitate two-way traffic. Please watch for and follow all detour signs in the area. Sidewalk access will also be affected. Pedestrians will be directed to walk on the grass on the west side of the street in order to access the Municipal Building from Macleod Trail. Flagman and signage will be in the area to assist with safe passage.

The sidewalk on the west side of Macleod Trail is expected to take a week to complete and the road work is anticipated to take two-three weeks. Once this work is completed, all of Macleod Trail will be opened.

Residents are reminded to watch for trucks and workers and to obey all safety signs and closures throughout town. Please be aware that barricades will be in place for public safety and will be left in place for lane closures even though construction crews may not be present.

Updates will be posted on the Town of High River website, www.highriver.ca, the Town’s Facebook (www.facebook.com/highriver.ca) and Twitter accounts (@TownOfHighRiver) and in the Town Crier.
