Longview Library News: Holiday Reading

Marigold Library System is offering a new library service called “Me”. It is an Alberta Wide Borrowing system that is web-based, and allows you to use your library card to create an account, and access the collections of all Alberta’s public libraries. Why join Me Libraries? You can access more library items for free, and get new library items sooner. Register your library card at melibraries.ca.

New books in the library are The Good Son, by Christopher Anderson, You Are Here by Chris Hatfield, Common Ground by Justin Trudeau, and A Deadly Wandering by Matt Richtel.

Don’t forget to drop your empty bottles off at the library this holiday season.

Also, don’t forget that you can watch movies and videos, free, by using your library card and Hoopladigital.com. Click on Sign Up, provide an e-mail address, create a password and have your library card information. And you are set to go. The service is called Hoopla, and you can tap into it for enjoyable, free entertainment over the holiday season.

A pleasant read over the Xmas break is David Bergen’s Leaving To-morrow, a Winnipeg author. It is about a boy growing up and falling in love in a small town in Alberta, south of Calgary. As a young man, he moves to Paris. It is a contemplative, questioning novel that takes its place beside Who Has Seen The Wind and A Complicated Kindness. He has won the Giller Prize and the Margaret Laurence Award for Fiction and several others.

Happy Reading and a Happy New Year!
