A hands-on FREE day of activities, demos, and information on avalanche and winter safety and survival, to mark Avalanche Awareness Week. Learn about winter recreation opportunities in Kananaskis, winter survival techniques (fire starting and quinzee construction), ecology and wildlife.
Activities include: Snowpack analysis workshops, companion rescue techniques, avalanche transceiver practice, avalanche terrain recognition, avalanche dog and recco search demonstrations.

Getting there: Drive west from Calgary and turn south from Canmore, Alberta on the Smith-Dorrien Trail to the Burstall Pass parking area.
