EDMONTON, AB (August 25, 2015): Alberta’s Job Minister Lori Sigurdson needs to get off the campaign trail for Thomas Mulcair and start paying attention to the economy, the Wildrose Official Opposition said.
On Monday, Sigurdson was in BC campaigning for North Okanagan-Shuswap candidate Jacqui Gingras. That same day, oil dipped to new six-year lows and global markets stumbled.
“We need leadership focused on jobs and the economy, not campaigning for federal politicians in other provinces,” Wildrose Leader Brian Jean said. “The summer vacation is over. Albertans need leaders who are focused on jobs and growth, not risky ideological experiments that only hurt the economy.”
Wildrose Jobs Shadow Minister Grant Hunter said that with new challenges facing Alberta’s economy, Minister Sigurdson should be looking to step back from her government’s ideological agenda and start focusing on what’s best for Alberta.
“The NDP are plowing through with royalty reviews, higher taxes and dramatic 50 per cent increases to the minimum wage,” Hunter said. “At a time of global economic uncertainty, we need to go back to the drawing board and look at predictable, stable policies that will spur job creation.”
