Investigation Leads to Arrest in Identity Theft Case


Airdrie, Alberta – On December 8th, 2015, Airdrie RCMP was contacted by a local Airdrie bank and advised of suspicious bank transactions.

An Airdrie City RCMP Investigator was dispatched and collected information relating to numerous loans taken through the branch. Irregularities involving Social Insurance Numbers and photo ID’s were identified.

After a lengthy investigation involving multiple victims and witnesses Curtis PORTER, 37 of Red Deer, was arrested and charged with Fraud, Identity Theft, and Identity Fraud on June 9th, 2016 at the Calgary Remand Centre where he was being held on unrelated charges.

A second suspect was identified but not located, and a warrant has been issued for Sasha PORTER, 34 of Red Deer, also for Fraud, Identity Theft, and Identity Fraud.

The RCMP would like to thank the public for their assistance in this investigation, and would also like to request the public’s further assistance in locating Sasha PORTER.

The RCMP would also like to remind the public not to leave important documents in unattended vehicles, and also to lock vehicles and report all thefts and suspicious occurrences.
