Important Information Regarding your Farm/Ranch and Workplace Legislation

Message from the MD of Foothills

The Government of Alberta is proposing changes to its workplace legislation through the new Enhanced Protection for Farm and Ranch Workers Act.

This means your farm will be subject to Occupational Health and Safety legislation and these  changes will affect all people working on your farm from full time employees to volunteering neighbours and family.

The Government of Alberta is looking for input on how to best implement the changes to meet the proposed timelines for Occupational Health and Safety, Labour Relations and Employment Standards legislation, as well as on what supports industry might need from government.

Bill 6, the Enhanced Protection for Farm and Ranch Workers Act, was introduced in the Alberta Legislature November 18th 2015, please view this link.
