This fall, IBM Canada donated Young Explorer workstations to 12 Alberta Promise Agencies. One recipient was Brenda’s House, a transitional shelter and re-housing program operated by the Children’s Cottage Society.

IBM’s generosity didn’t stop there. Roy Hebert, IBM Alberta Territory Executive, visited Brenda’s House in November to see how the workstation was being received. Roy was so inspired that when Dawn Boustead, Manager of Brenda’s House, mentioned the shelter needed new bedding, Roy didn’t waste time. He went to his staff and they agreed to use their employee engagement fund to help out.
Roy, and his wife Shelly, bought $2,500 worth of sheets, blankets, and pillows – enough for all 38 beds in Brenda’s House. The bedding filled two SUV’s to the brim and three days later, Roy and three colleagues returned to Brenda’s House with a surprise.

Alberta’s Promise sends a huge “Thank You” to IBM for helping families and youth in need and supporting the agencies that work with them each day.
