We’re Hiring – Join the RCMP! “Women in Policing” Career Presentation


Calgary, Alberta – Learn how you can put ordinary behind you at a special recruiting presentation for women interested in a career like no other.

The Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP) offers meaningful work, vast opportunities and the chance to serve in communities across Canada where you can make a real difference in people’s lives. The RCMP is committed to actively recruiting women to ensure its membership better reflects the communities it serves.

This year marks the 40th anniversary of the RCMP’s first women officers. A 32-member female troop began training in 1974 and forged the path that has led to nearly 4,000 female police officers today, or just over 20% of the sworn ranks. The RCMP is committed to increasing that to 30% by 2025.

During the “Women in Policing” presentation, you will learn about some of the more than 150 different types of policing opportunities within the RCMP and hear from women who’ve donned the RCMP uniform. A recruiting officer will also outline the recruiting process step-by-step, provide advice and answer questions.

RCMP officers play an important role in ensuring the safety and security of those in the communities they serve. Responsible for enforcing the law and investigating crime, our officers are role models and leaders who provide advice and guidance to people from all walks of life. To apply to the RCMP you must be: a Canadian citizen; 19 years or older (may begin the application process at 18); of good character; proficient in English or French; and possess a high school diploma or equivalent. You must also be willing to relocate anywhere in Canada, have a valid Driver’s Licence, meet medical/psychological/vision standards and be physically fit.

The RCMP is looking for people who are responsible, respectful, professional, compassionate, honest and who have integrity. Once training is successfully completed, a new member will be posted to one of our 750 detachments across the country.
