High River, Alberta. – The High River RCMP have responded to an increase in reports of counterfeit U.S. money being passed at local businesses. Since May 7, 2016 the RCMP have received six reports of counterfeit money which were passed at seven locations in town. The police have identified suspect(s) and lay charges in four of these incidents, and are asking businesses to be vigilant when accepting U.S. money. Commonly used denominations are $20, $50 and $100. Police are encouraging businesses to speak with their employees and provide tips for identifying counterfeit money.
