High River RCMP: Flight from Police


High River, Alberta  –  On July 13th, 2016 the High River RCMP were responding to a suspicious vehicle complaint within the Community.  While members were enroute, they observed a vehicle which appeared to be speeding on 12th Avenue.  The overhead lights were activated and the offending vehicle pulled over on 88th street south of the Town.  An officer exited the vehicle and approached the drivers’ window speaking with the lone male driver in the car.  The officer noted the smell of alcohol and had a brief conversation with the driver noting signs of impairment.
At this point the driver fled the area and the members entered into a pursuit.   The driver continued south for several miles and lost control of his vehicle.  The vehicle entered the east ditch and rolled.    High River Fire and EMS attended and the 29 year old male from Calgary, Alberta was transported to the High River Hospital, where he was treated and released.
This matter is still under investigation and, charges are pending.  The driver was operating a vehicle which was reported stolen.
