High River RCMP Fatal Highway Collision


High River, Alberta –  On May 12th,  2016 at approximately 8:00a.m. High River RCMP, Integrated Traffic Services, Fire Department and EMS responded to a two vehicle fatal motor vehicle collision.

The collision occurred on Highway 23 at the intersection of 176th Street East, approximately 5 miles east of High River. A  mid-sized car operated by a lone male 20 years of age, was traveling west and collided with a grader making a left hand turn from Highway 23. The lone male occupant of the car was declared deceased at the scene and the driver of the grader did not suffer any injuries.

Traffic was restricted to one lane to allow an RCMP collision analyst to assist with the investigation but was reopened to both lanes at 2:30p.m. The notification of the next of kin has been completed, however, the names of those involved will not be released.
