High River RCMP Arrest Male with Numerous Outstanding Warrants

High River, Alta. – Arrest wanted Male & new charges of obstruction and resisting arrest.

On February 16 an RCMP member was conducting regular patrols when a male was seen riding his bike across 12 avenue SE in an unsafe manner. The RCMP officer caught up with the male and spoke with him in regards to safer riding habits with his bicycle. Upon speaking with the subject he provided the officer with a fake name, the RCMP officer recognized him as a person wanted for numerous warrants by High River RCMP and Medicine Hat Police Service. RCMP attempted an arrest and the male took off down a pathway on his bicycle. Moments later the male had fallen off his bike after hitting a patch of ice in the pathway and fled on foot. The officer found the male hiding nearby between houses thanks to a tip from a citizen. Medical staff cleared the male from any injuries he may have sustained from the fall while he ran from police.

Gary James WARNICA of High River has also been formally charged with;

Obstruct/Resist a Peace officer (x2)

A Judicial interim release hearing was held, Gary was released on a bail release order and is set to appear later this week at Okotoks Provincial Court, next month on Medicine Hat matters.
