High River Infrastructure Upgrades Continue on 5 Avenue S.W.

HIGH RIVER, AB: Work on phase 2 of the downtown reconstruction program continues to progress with the closure of 5 Avenue S.W. between Macleod Trail and 1 Street S.W. starting Monday, July 13.

The reconstruction program is needed in order to replace underground utilities that were damaged in the June 2013 flood.

Pedestrian access to businesses will be maintained and access maps can be viewed below:

  • 5 Avenue S.W. pedestrian access
  • 1 Street S.W. pedestrian access

Work on 1 Street S.W. between 4 and 5 Avenues S.W. continues and the road is anticipated to reopen to vehicles traffic by the end of July (weather dependent).

Drivers and pedestrians are asked to obey posted signage and watch for heavy equipment and vehicles working in the area.

George Lane Memorial Park will continue to be accessible to vehicles and RVs throughout construction.
