HIGH RIVER, AB: After several months of planning and visioning sessions, the Town of High River strategic plan for 2015 to 2017 is now available. This plan sets out council’s new vision, mission and values, as well as defines the Town’s priorities for the next three years.
“High River is a great community and this plan lays out the critical building blocks to secure our future as we move forward,” said Mayor Craig Snodgrass. “We will continue to grow High River to be the best community on earth.”
The plan defines four strategic priorities that council will focus on and which will guide Town operations and initiatives:
- A people first community
- Safety and security
- Sustainable economic growth
- Financial strength
For each priority, council has also established long term goals, measurements of success and targets.
A key part of the strategic planning process involved bringing in a graphic recording artist to visually depict the planning sessions. The final drawing, which graphically illustrates council’s vision, can also be viewed in the plan.
The strategic plan will replace the action plan that has been guiding the Town since April 2014 and which focused heavily on flood mitigation and reconstruction.
Print copies of the strategic plan will be available on Friday, June 26. Copies will be distributed in the High River Times, as well as at Town facilities. It can be viewed online now at www.highriver.ca under the Town Hall then Plans & Reports menus.
