High River, AB: Property owners in High River will have to wait until the first of May to receive their 2015 assessment notices. The Town is currently undertaking a review of properties to ensure that the assessments are accurate and fair now that a majority of properties have been remediated from the flood.
The review is expected to be completed by April and notices are scheduled to be mailed out within the first part of May.
If property owners have any questions concerning their assessment notice, they should contact the assessment department or attend one of the open houses, which will be scheduled after the notices are mailed. The matters that may be questioned are:
Description of a property
· Name and mailing address of an assessed person or taxpayer
· An assessment
· An assessment class or subclass
· The type of property
· The declared school support
· Whether the property is assessable
· Whether the property is exempt from taxation
These are only assessment notices for properties. Property tax notices will be mailed in early July, 2015. For more assessment information, contact the Assessment Department at 403.603.3430 or by email at firstname.lastname@example.org.
If a property is still uninhabitable due to the June 2013 flood, owners can apply to the Town of High River Property Tax Relief program for the 2014 and 2015 tax years. Deadline for 2014 applications is March 2. For more information, contact the Town of High River at 403.652.2110.
