Help Break the Cycle of Violence

There’s still time to have your donation matched by Birdies for Kids program presented by AltaLink

Did you know: Rowan House Society is more than just an emergency shelter for women and children fleeing family violence.

We believe that prevention is the key to ultimately breaking the cycle of abuse and empowering our youth and our community to make choices that lead to lives free of violence.

That is where our Branches Preventative Education program comes in. Between September and June, our facilitators are booked full with school presentations throughout our entire service area. They talk to students in grades 2, 5 8 and 11; discussing topics such as bullying, empathy, dating violence and healthy relationships. They also run Healthy Relationship education groups for women in the community and provide general Domestic Violence presentations to service clubs and any other groups who may be interested.

This vital program is made possible through funds granted by FCSS and United Way, as well as donations from community members like you.

Rowan House currently has an opportunity to stretch your support a little further. We are a participating charity in the Birdies for Kids program presented by AltaLink through the Shaw Charity Classic.

You don’t have to play golf or even like golf to make a big difference. We receive 100% of EVERY DONATION collected through this program and, through the Birdies for Kids matching program, we will receive extra funding of up to 50% of collected donations. Don’t worry if “birdie” pledges are confusing, even just a simple, one-time flat donation through the link below will go a long way!

Don’t forget we do have two free pairs of any-day tickets to the Shaw Charity Classic running August 31-September 4th, for the top two donors as of August 8th! Right now just a donation over $50 will get you in the running.

Thank you for your consideration.
