Government makes Changes at Senior Official Level


Changes at the senior official level have been made in Alberta’s Public Affairs Bureau and at Innovation and Advanced Education.

Mark Wells has been appointed Managing Director of the Public Affairs Bureau, effective Friday, September 25.

Andy Weiler, who has served as Acting Deputy Chief of the Public Affairs Bureau since January, has been appointed Assistant Deputy Minister of Apprenticeship and Student Aid and will start his new role on Monday, September 28.

Mark Wells was born in Bashaw, Alberta and holds a law degree from the University of Alberta Faculty of Law. He has 12 years of experience in communications and journalism, most recently as Manager of Research, Education and Communications for the Alberta Union of Provincial Employees.

Bio: Andy Weiler
During his 10 years with the Government of Alberta, Andy Weiler has been the Director of Communications with Solicitor General and Public Security, Health and Wellness, and Environment and Sustainable Resource Development. He has spent the last three years in leadership roles within the Public Affairs Bureau.
