What a fantastic fall it has been for archaeological excavations at Glenbow Ranch! As active as our ground-dwelling rodents are, they can’t keep up with a trowel, an archaeologist, and a passion for history. Shari Peyerl is leading the excavations for the Archaeological Society of Alberta. Her hope is that their finds will shed some light on the daily lives of the Quarry Manager’s family.Robert and Anabelle Dickson came to Canada from Ireland and made Glenbow their home while he oversaw the daily activities at Glenbow Quarry. If you’re headed to the narrows, stop and take in a real archaeological dig! Shari and her crew will be on site Monday to Thursday next week, wrapping up this year’s work.
