Get on Board for the Alberta 55 Plus Provincial Winter Games!

Are you fifty-five years or older and enjoy competing in your sport or recreational activity? The Alberta 55 Plus Winter Games are being held in Lethbridge on February 19th – 22nd and you could represent your area at these games. The events are Alpine Skiing, Badminton, Bowling – 5-pin, Bridge – Duplicate, Carpet Bowling, Cross Country Skiing, Darts, Euchre, Hockey, Ice Curling, Pool – Snooker, Scrabble, Soccer – Indoor Women’s, and Table Shuffleboard. The objectives of these games are to provide all 55 Plus Albertans, regardless of age or ability, the opportunity to pursue greater levels of physical, social, intellectual and creative achievement through friendly competition and participation, and to enhance a sense of community spirit by bringing Albertans together.

The province is divided into eight zones and each zone holds playoffs in the various activities to determine who represents their area. We are Zone 2 which covers the area outside of Calgary from Olds to High River and from Oyen to Banff. Our zone is divided into 9 areas and each area can send participants to the zone playoffs. If you are interested in competing in these playoffs there are posters and schedules at your local recreation centre and seniors clubs or go to the 2015 Alberta 55 Plus Winter Games website. For more information you can call Norma Dawson at 403-931-3580 or John MacKillop at 403-620-8676.
