FSD News: Students Shine During Little Britches Weekend

Little Britches Band Performances

A soggy day couldn’t dampen the spirits of parade goers in High River thanks to uplifting performances by the bands from École Senator Riley Middle School, led by Herb Froese, and École Secondaire Highwood High School, led by Jace Stearn. High River Trustee Doug Gardner reported that these FSD bands attracted quite a crowd!

Tate’s Lemonade Stand

Another Little Britches Parade highlight was Tate’s Lemonade Stand. Tate Barton, a Grade 1 student at Spitzee Elementary School, lost his mom to cancer a couple of years ago. To honour her memory and help in the fight against cancer, for the second year in a row, Tate operated his lemonade stand at the parade to raise money. This year’s proceeds will go to the High River Community Cancer Centre. As of May 20th, Tate had raised a whopping $6,000 and funds are still coming in!
