In making the announcement, Sean Yakabuski, FSD’s Director of Transportation said: “This is a true testament to Lisa’s driving capabilities, professionalism and her ability to build and maintain relationships with both students and parents.”
The award will be formally presented at the 2016 Alberta Student Transportation Advisory Council (ASTAC) Convention in Red Deer, March 15-18. Students, staff and parents at Millarville Community School, as well as fellow drivers, were actively involved in supporting Lisa’s nomination, in part due to her role in preventing a potentially large grass fire west of Millarville in October 2015. Lisa is an extremely humble, team-oriented person.
When we asked her about sharing the award news, she wrote: “I feel very honoured to be chosen by so many great people in my community and my work place. I work with a great team, it takes all of us working together every day to make wonderful things happen.”
Lisa joined FSD as a spare driver in May 1995, and came on board as a regular driver in February 1997.
