High River, Alberta – In the month of March there were two occasions reported to the High River RCMP of a male selling cigarettes at less than retail. The male took money from the victims and never returned with the cigarettes. The male is described as having short dark hair clean cut.
In this case we do not believe there is any legitimate tobacco products to be exchanged, however the Police do wish to remind individuals that it is an offence to buy stolen property or tobacco not marked for tax paid within the Province of Alberta. The suggestion of cigarettes being available for prices less than those of a retailer should be a red flag to suggest there is an issue. Remember if it sounds to good to be true, then it probably is.
If you have information about this, or any other crime(s), please call the High River RCMP at (403) 652-2357, or if you want to remain anonymous, you can contact Crime Stoppers by phone at 1-800-222-8477 (TIPS), or by Internet at www.tipsubmit.com.
