Foothills Students Discuss School Division Policy on Inclusiveness and Respect

At the most recent Students’ Matters Committee meeting, Board and executive leadership team representatives were impressed by the thoughtful discussion among student committee representatives on the draft policy and administrative procedure that FSD has developed. Policy 18 – Welcoming, Safe, Caring, Inclusive and Respectful Learning Environments and Administrative Procedure 350 – Student Code of Conduct, focus on the rights, needs, safety and dignity of all students. (You can view the drafts and provide feedback on FSD’s website.)

Student discussion focused on the proposed Student Code of Conduct, which will have the most direct influence on their lives in schools. Key themes centred on the need for the same standards for all and consequences for inappropriate behavior that affects student learning and well-being.
