Foothills School Division: Overseas Travel Cancellation

Out of Country Trips and Coronavirus (COVID-19)

Foothills School Division believes in the educational value of international travel and that the safety of our students and staff is of the highest importance.

The outbreak of COVID-19 continues around the world with a rising number of confirmed cases.  This has caused a good deal of concern with respect to international travel.

Given current travel advisories and the daily changes in public health information being released, Foothills School Division has made the decision to cancel all overseas travel for the remainder of the 2019-2020 school year as we cannot ensure the safety of our students and staff.

This was a difficult decision, and one we did not make lightly.  “The safety of students and staff is paramount.  The impact of COVID-19 is serious and we have to make the appropriate steps to ensure student and staff safety,” said Superintendent Chris Fuzessy.
