Trustees approved a motion directing the Superintendent to investigate the possible closure of FSD’s Education Plus locations in High River and Black Diamond, and consult with the families, students and communities that would be directly affected. Superintendent John Bailey explained that the school division is considering amalgamating its alternative education programs, including Education Plus, in Okotoks at Cameron Crossing on South Railway Street.
FSD’s high school HUB model has proved to be such a hit with students that most of those who would have traditionally attended Ed Plus are now accessing the HUBs – transition zones located in all three of our high schools where students can access flexible learning and support. Any learner, regardless of their ability, program, schedule or personal situation is welcome to utilize the HUB to complete various high school courses.
Students who are not comfortable with learning in a high school setting would have the option to attend Cameron Crossing. Complimentary transportation from the High River and High Country regions would be provided .
