Foothills Regional Landfill – Temporary Extended Hours


 

Tired of waiting in line at the Landfill?  Extended Hours!

Monday – Thursday, 8:30 am – 6:30 pm

*Extended hours are for smaller residential loads, leaf and yard waste and recycling.

NOTICE:  In order to maximize the life of the Foothills Regional Landfill, encourage recycling and reduce the amount of waste deposited at the landfill from outside Commission boundaries, tipping fees for solid waste were increased effective January 1, 2015.

Minimum charge $10.00 for 0 kg to 100 kg

Commercial and Self Haulers

  • 2015 increase $85.00/tonne
  • 2016 increase $104.00/tonne

Due to an increase in Construction and Demolition materials from outside Commission boundaries and the equipment and man power to handle materials the tipping fee was increased effective January 2, 2015:

  • $150.00/tonne

As of January 1, 2015 customers are required to sign a contract agreeing to our terms, anyone is found to be bringing in out of boundary waste will pay the tipping rate of $100.00/tonne for all future 2015 loads.

The Foothills Regional Waste Management Facility otherwise known as “The Landfill” is run by the Foothills Regional Services Commission (FRSC). The FRSC is managed by a Commission consisting of the following member municipalities:

  • Municipal District of Foothills No. 31
  • Town of High River
  • Town of Black Diamond
  • Town of Turner Valley
  • Town of Okotoks
  • Town of Nanton

Regular Landfill hours are 8:30 am to 4:30 pm Monday-Saturday.

Please arrive half an hour before closing time to give you enough time to empty your vehicle.

The landfill is CLOSED on Sunday and all Statutory Holidays.

Excessive rain may make access by 2-wheel drives difficult.

Large loads will not be accepted after 4:30 pm.

Help keep our ditches clean, please secure or tarp all loads!

Recycling

On-site Recycling: Scrap metal, appliances, batteries, tires, used oil, propane bottles, antifreeze, oil filters, cardboard, appliances, wood waste & greens pile (compost), household hazardous waste. Tonnage fees apply.

Pesticide containers – must be triple rinsed!

  • April 15 – Nov 15: Open Monday-Tuesday, Friday-Saturday from 10:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m.
  • Nov 16 – April 14: Open Friday-Saturday from 10:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m.

Transfer stations work on a $2.00 per bag basis. Bags for use at the transfer stations are available at Millarville General Store, Hi Ho in Turner Valley, Esso in Black Diamond and at the Priddis Transfer Station.

FSRS – Foothills Salvage and Recycling Society (a non-profit organization)

Located immediately adjacent to the Regional Waste Management Facility. The FSRS is dedicated to keeping items out of the landfill that are still usable. The FSRS donates residual income to charitable organizations located within the Foothills. In 2013 $71,000 went to charities and $16,000 went to the 2013 Flood Rescue.

No fees to leave items. Not accepting Fridges, Stoves, Washers, Dryers, Dish Washers. Old style televisions are not accepted but can be taken to the landfill for recycling.
