As of noon today, Saturday, May 30th, 2015 the new spray park in Turner Valley is officially open.
Despite the temperature being under 30 degrees there were some very eager children ready to try it out. As parents and grandparents stood and watched dressed in jackets and hoodies the kids were oblivious to the cooler temperature and happily donned their swimsuits to run under the cascading water, shoot water towards each other or play the musical piano.
There were a lot of dignitaries, Lions Club members and residents from the area in attendance for the Grand Opening. Speeches were heard from John Barlow, MP; Jason Parker, MD of Foothills Councillor; Don Edy, District Governor for the Lions Club; Kelly Tuck, Turner Valley Mayor and Barry Crane, Chair of the Lions Club Spray park Committee. Following the ribbon cutting, cake was served, by Lions Diane and Caryl and Diane’s granddaughter Arianna.
The local Girl Guides group were on hand to serve a lunch of hot dogs and a drink.
