For the 52nd year, the women of Christ Church Millarville are planning a Flower Festival at their historic log church. The tradition was inspired by a similar event in England attended by Mrs. Flo King who was a member of the Christ Church Ladies Guild. This year the Festival is on Saturday, July 19th and Sunday, July 20th.
Tea with scones, home-made strawberry jam and whipped cream will be served on Saturday only from 11:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. The cost is $6.00 or $3.00 for children 6 years old and younger. Groups of 8 people or more can reserve a table and time by calling Barb Haslam at
403 995-2340. Seniors are most welcome and our facilities are handicapped accessible.
With the assistance of the Millarville Horticultural Society, the church, grounds and cemetery will be decorated with beautiful floral arrangements, potted flowers and hanging baskets. Cathy Scatterty is in charge of flowers for the Church and Cemetery. She would appreciate a call at 403 938-7717 if you can provide any of these as well as cut flowers to be placed on each of the graves. Children can be very helpful in delivering these bouquets. Please bring flowers to the Church on Friday evening, July 18th starting around 6:00 p.m.
A service conducted by the Rev. Alan Getty will be held amid the blossoms in the church on Sunday, July 20th at 11:30 a.m. All are welcome to attend.
Christ Church Millarville is located on Highway 549 about 5 km east of the Millarville Race Track between Millarville and Okotoks.
