Continued hot, dry conditions and expected wind gusts up to 50 kilometres per hour will push the fire hazard to extreme levels today and tomorrow. Albertans are advised to take extra caution.
There are currently 116 wildfires in Alberta, 46 of which are classified as out of control. Firefighters are continuing to work hard to address the current wildfire situation, with a significant amount of firefighters, equipment, aircraft and resources deployed.
If a wildfire does occur, conditions may cause rapid spread, making it difficult for firefighters to contain the wildfire quickly.
Fire weather advisories are only issued when conditions significantly increase the risk of uncontrolled wildfires.
All burning permits within the central and northern parts of the Forest Protection Area of Alberta have been cancelled and no new permits will be issued.
Many areas across the province have fire bans or fire advisories in effect.
Current wildfire conditions are updated regularly.
If you spot a wildfire, call 310-FIRE.
