Held annually on January 27, this national initiative raises awareness of the importance of reading and engaging in other literacy-related activities as a family. It’s a popular initiative in FSD and our schools planned a variety of fun activities to encourage students and their families to learn together.
Among those who visited schools as “celebrity readers” were Superintendent John Bailey who read stories with Grade 2 to 5 students at Cayley School and Grade 4/5 students at Dr. Morris Gibson (DMG), and Trustee Laurie Copland who happily shared one of her favourite books, Big Hungry Bear, with kindergarten students at DMG.
