Fallen tree branches due to September snow causing road closures

High River, AB: The Town is experiencing some minor issues with fallen tree branches this morning due to the overnight snowfall.

Current road closures include:

· Macleod Trail at 4 St. S.W.

· 6 St. at 6 Ave. S.W.

· 8 St. S.W. between Macleod Tr. and 5 Ave.

George Lane Park is also closed to vehicles and foot traffic and will remain closed until it is safe for residents to be in the area. Crews are also clearing a tree that has fallen in front of Soderberg House at 901 Macleod Trail S.W.

All efforts are being made to clear these hazards in a timely manner, however, if tree branches are near or touching power lines, Fortis technicians need to be called to assist and these will take longer to clear.

Residents are advised to be careful when walking and parking under trees today as the heavy snow may cause branches to break and drop to the ground.

Town Parks and Operations departments would like to remind people to please use caution when driving and walking through town today as the snowfall may have created some additional hazards.
