Having recently experienced another beautiful granddaughter being added to our family, I am reminded again of the cycle of life, and also seeing a ‘twist’ in that cycle of life when it comes to life with God.
When a child is born into a family, the next eighteen or so years of his or her life is spent by parents and other significant adults teaching, training and helping that child grow into a responsible adult. During those years it is hoped that the child has learned enough about life in order to function well independently.
When it comes to believing in God, and becoming a part of his family – Jesus said this: “I tell you the truth, unless you turn from your sins and become like little children, you will never get into the Kingdom of Heaven.”
As adults, like we’ve been taught, we have become self-reliant and depend mainly on ourselves. But God says that unless I become like a little child, I will never see the Kingdom of Heaven. First, I have to realize my need for Him as my Savior, because of all the wrongdoings (sins) in my life; and secondly, I need to come to Him with the simple faith of a child. He asks me to give up reliance on myself and put myself and my future in His hands by accepting his gift of life, which he can offer me because of his voluntary death on the cross in my place for my wrongdoings; and then because he rose from the dead, he conquered death. This is the means or the way He provides so I can go to heaven to live with him forever when this earthly body is done. When I give myself to him, he will wrap his arms around me just like he did the children and bless and keep and guide me throughout this life’s journey – whatever and wherever that may take me until it’s time for me to go Home.
”One day some parents brought their children to Jesus so he could touch and bless them. But the disciples scolded the parents for bothering him.
When Jesus saw what was happening, he was angry with his disciples. He said to them, “Let the children come to me. Don’t stop them! For the Kingdom of God belongs to those who are like these children. I tell you the truth, anyone who doesn’t receive the Kingdom of God like a child will never enter it.” Then he took the children in his arms and placed his hands on their heads and blessed them.” (Mark 10:13-16 NLT)
What about you? Are you willing to place your hand in the hand of the Father like the simple act of faith that is shown in the picture below and let Him be your life, your all? Readers are encouraged to write Gloria at: gloriawes@hotmail.com and she will be glad to get back to you.
“About that time the disciples came to Jesus and asked, “Who is the greatest in the Kingdom of Heaven?”
Jesus called a little child to him and put the child among them. Then he said, “I tell you the truth, unless you turn from your sins and become like little children, you will never get into the Kingdom of Heaven. So anyone who becomes as humble as this little child is the greatest in the Kingdom of Heaven.” (Matthew 18:1-4 NLT)
