Christmas is the next great major feast, for if Jesus hadn’t been born, He never could have died on the Cross to redeem our sins and He never would have been able to rise from the dead.
His Crucifixion and rising from the dead on the third day — Easter — complete His victory over sin and death. Thanks to His Resurrection, we, too, are able to share eternal life with Him.
Jesus could have remained dead after the Crucifixion. If that had happened, He really would have been dead to us — not only physically but spiritually. His body would have remained buried, and we would have thought of him as no more than a nice guy, a good prophet. We would still be waiting for fulfilment of the promise of being united with God at our own deaths.
However, the Resurrection completes His New Covenant with us. If we believe in Him and give our lives to Him, we, too, will live with Him in glory — forever.
Jesus Christ has shown His power over the darkness of sin and death. Let us walk with Him as He walks with us — even if we do not realise it — each day towards that fulfilled promise of eternal life.
John 11:25-26: … he that believeth in me, though he were dead, yet shall he live. And whosoever liveth and believeth in me shall never die.
Acts: 17:28: For in him we live and move and have our being …
Colossians 3:1-4: If ye then be risen with Christ, seek those things which are above … When Christ [who is] our life, shall appear, then shall ye also appear with him in glory.
