Dueling For Charity, Bands Take the Stage in Record Breaking Year

If only all music rivalries were this fun

Calgary, Alberta (November 9, 2015) – The Advo-Cats and bORDERLINE return to the stage for the fourth annual “Between Bands – Dueling for Between Friends” Friday, November 13, 2015 at the Deerfoot Inn and Casino.

Despite a tough economic climate in Calgary, this year’s event has raised more funds for people with disabilities than any of its preceding years, with the final total to be announced at the event on Friday.

“As one of the founders behind this event, it is near and dear to my heart,” said Gerry David, Past Chair of Between Friends and member of the bORDERLINE band. “As a member of Between Friends, having joined as a family 16 years ago, I felt that I could give something back and help in a small way with fundraising. Being passionate about the organization and a part-time musician as well, it was a natural fit to combine those two passions.”

Gerry’s music has been helping Between Friends for close to 15 years and in 2012, with the help of his friend Glenn, member of the band The Advo-Cats, Between Bands was born. “Calgary would be less of a world class city for people with disabilities if Between Friends was not here. It’s nice to be a part of that and to be one of the people helping to make it happen!” concludes David.

Gerry and Glenn are not the only ones, Between Bands is being presented this year by Robert Rivard Barrister & Solicitor – Disability Law Office and sponsored by Pellarin Inc., Enbridge, Northwest Tank Lines, JSS Barristers, Superior Gas Liquids, Norton Rose Fulbright, McLean and Partners Wealth Management, Deerfoot Inn & Casino, Line One Contact Centres, Graham Group Ltd., Cash Casino and Young Professionals in Energy. In addition, many generous donors have contributed to the event, along with many ticket holders.

The dueling bands event will be hosted by Global TV’s Tony Tighe and promises to be an evening of music, fun and giving back.

Dueling BandsTickets are $27.50 and can be purchased by visiting: www.betweenbands.com. Evening proceeds from Between Bands will benefit Between Friends’ self-development, social and recreation programs for people with disabilities. Doors open at 6:30 pm, with music and dancing to commence at 7:30 pm.
