Driver’s Road Testing Suspended

COVID-19 response

Effective immediately, Alberta Transportation has introduced new, temporary measures, related to driver education and examinations.

Alberta is extending the suspension of road tests until the public health emergency ends, while we develop procedures to conduct road tests that prevent the spread of COVID-19.

Road tests will resume when it is safe to do so. Albertans who had a road test cancelled as a result of this suspension of service will be able to rebook online once the public health emergency ends or later, at no additional charge.

If your road test was cancelled by Alberta Transportation and you would like a refund, please email with the following information:

  1. Full name
  2. Date of birth
  3. Motor vehicle identification number
  4. Road test permit number (if known)

To help support Albertans isolating and practicing physical distancing, we are extending expiry dates for Alberta driver’s licences, vehicle registrations and other permits and certificates until May 15, 2020.
