CREB® Charitable Foundation offers HOPE to those who need it most

$180,000 in grant funding awarded to Calgary and area non-profits

Calgary – In keeping with its long-legacy of giving, CREB® Charitable Foundation has awarded $180,000 in grant funding to local non-profits selected by REALTORS® through its Investing in HOPE program.

The REALTOR® community is actively engaged in the decision-making process from beginning to end, not only by nominating their favourite charities, but also by voting for them as well.

The Charitable Foundation typically awards 15 grants through the Investing in HOPE program, but thanks to the generosity of its board of governors who unanimously agreed to inject an extra $30,000 this year, 18 organizations providing sustainable community solutions, shelter and care will receive a $10,000 grant.

“We had the capacity to give more this year, so that’s what we did,” said Foundation coordinator Aneve MacKay-Lyons. “The impact of every grant is exponential, so when 18 different organizations receive funding, there’s a profound ripple effect that translates into a much wider outcome for the people who need it most.”

The additional funding was applied evenly across the Charitable Foundation’s three areas of focus—enhancement, shelter and care. The top six organizations with the most votes in each category were awarded a $10,000 grant to assist with a specific operational or capital need.

“The Investing in HOPE program gives us the opportunity to support community organizations across a wide continuum, so we can make a measurable difference in many areas,” said MacKay-Lyons.

“Where one grant might help to lift people out of poverty and offer safe housing alternatives, other grants may be used to support agencies that foster creativity in young people or promote inclusiveness or access to learning and education. The possibilities are endless.”
