HIGH RIVER, AB: The Town of High River is encouraging residents to connect with their neighbours and friends at a free barbecue being held on Saturday, May 7 at 12 p.m. at the High River Fire Hall (1010 5 Street S.E.).
“We believe that connected communities are safer communities,” said Carly Benson, director of emergency management for the Town. “Our focus for Emergency Preparedness Month this year is on supporting and promoting those community connections. This event will be a fun way to meet your neighbours, make new friends and enjoy time with your family.”
The community barbecue is part of the Town’s Emergency Preparedness Month activities that take place in May.
The family friendly and fun event will include:
- Games and music with the Neighbourhood Block Party Trailer.
- Prizes and giveaways.
- Tours of the Fire Hall and fire trucks.
- Resources on being prepared for emergencies.
- The chance to meet and ask questions of representatives from EMS, RCMP, Salvation Army, the Town’s emergency management department and more.
In case of inclement weather the event will be rescheduled to Saturday, May 14 (updates will be posted to www.highriver.ca as well as the Town’s Facebook and Twitter accounts).
Residents are invited to come early and take part in the Community Green Sweep that will run from 8 a.m. to 12 p.m. Join friends and neighbours and help clean up High River’s green spaces.
