Steven Zink has been appointed to the Board of Directors of the Alberta Council of Technologies Society as Treasurer and Director of Finance. Steve is Vice President for ATB Financial for the Growth and Productivity Strategies team for Business & Agriculture. He is also a member of the Certified Management Accountants Society of BC and during his career has always worked in the business banking industry and enjoys working with entrepreneurs. Before joining ATB in January 2012, he spent 17 years at the Business Development Bank of Canada, 12 of which were in an executive role, most recently as Vice President Financing and Consulting for the Northern Alberta & Aboriginal Banking Unit. This experience allows him to travel to many parts of this province, and meet many of its great entrepreneurs.
Hubert Lau has been appointed to the Board of Directors of the Alberta Council of Technologies Society as the Director Membership and ICT. Hubert is well known for his dynamic and creative solutions for organizations of all sizes. With over 20 years of experience in the IT industry, servicing and consulting for over 1000 organizations including both privately held and publicly traded companies. Along with providing technology solutions, he now assists companies to market their technologies to Asia. He and his partners established the collaborative framework to provide robust, cost efficient solutions for businesses by leveraging both local and international expertise. Allan Bly has been appointed to the Board of Directors of the Alberta Council of Technologies Society as the Director of Telecommunications. Allan is the founder & President of ViTel Consulting and has over thirty years experience in the communications industry as a technical advisor; he serves as a trainer, consultant, and public speaker. His consulting practice has a reputation for making the complex issues of connectivity understandable with its unique business approach to technology. This will be Allan’s second appointment to the Board of Directors.
Michael Kryton has been appointed to the Board of Directors of the Alberta Council of Technologies Society as the Director of Creativity & Communications. Michael is a creative communications Writer-Producer-Director (35 yrs) and Ideation Expert applying his skill set for clients in media, government, corporate, industry, business associations, education and retail. He is on contract with Production World (Edmonton) writing and producing creative for radio, television, web, live shows and events. He wrote and directed William Shatner’s 2011 Canadian Tour, “How Time Flies” and consulted to Nightingale Conant in Chicago on brand development. He has garnered international recognition from the Hollywood Radio and Television Society honoring the world’s best broadcast advertisements, the New York Radio and Television Festival, the Radio Bureau of Canada, the Television Bureau of Canada and many others.
In 2007, Michael’s book, “The Father’s Guide To Surviving With Kids”, was published as part of the Bachelors Guide Book Series, which has sold collectively 300,000 copies. He is also the author of “A Brilliant Idea Every 60 Seconds”, an account and how-to of his ideation methodology. His education background includes Concordia University (Montreal), University of Victoria and the University of Alberta, with studies in English, Theatre Arts, and Economics.
Kevin Wong, LL.B. has been appointed to the Board of Directors of the Alberta Council of Technologies Society as Director of Regional Relations for Calgary and Southern Alberta. Kevin is a lawyer by training and the Founder of Stonecraker – Scientific Legal Network, specializing in R&D Tax Credit. He has a keen interest in the plight of small businesses and is himself a serial IT entrepreneur having co-founded a dozen software companies. His extensive corporate and public sector networks will help us strengthen our relationships with Calgary and southern Alberta. Kevin joins Derrick Rancourt as the Board’s two Directors in Calgary.
