A two year pilot project kicks off in the Foothills on October 11th, 2016.
The On-It bus, provided by Southland Transportation Ltd., will be servicing the areas of Black Diamond/Turner Valley, Okotoks and High River with a commuter route to the Somerset/Bridlewood LRT station in Calgary. The commuter bus will operate during peak hours from Monday to Friday.
There will also be a bus that travels internally around Okotoks.
The bus is focused on people working in Calgary or those who wish to travel to Okotoks for the day from Black Diamond, Turner Valley or High River.
The schedules below show the times for the different routes both morning and evening. It can also be found at www.onitregionaltransit.ca/maps-and-schedules/. Route 500 and 501 are the Black Diamond Turner Valley buses. Route 502 is the High River, Okotoks, Calgary run and Route 503 is the internal route around Okotoks.
Ticket costs are $2, $6 and $8 for a one-way trip depending on where you are going from and to. The internal route around Okotoks plus the Black Diamond/Turner Valley to Okotoks trip is $2. Okotoks to Calgary is $6 and the Black Diamond, Turner Valley or High River trips to Calgary cost $8.
Tickets are available for purchase at all four Town Offices plus the Esso in both Black Diamond and Turner Valley and the Bob Snodgrass Recreational Centre in High River. More vendors will be added over the next few months.
The buses are ‘cashless’ so no tickets can be purchased on the buses.
Park ‘N Ride locations have been designated as the Sheep River Library parking lot in Turner Valley; the Town Parking Lot at Centre Ave and 1st Street SE in Black Diamond; the Okotoks Recreational Centre and the Pason Centennial Arena parking lots in Okotoks and the Bob Snodgrass Recreational Centre in High River.
