On November 26, 2015 at 3:00 p.m., a member of the Cochrane RCMP Municipal Traffic Section pulled over a Chevrolet Cobalt for a Traffic Safety Act Violation in the Fireside subdivision of Cochrane. During the investigation into the traffic offence the driver was arrested for possession of a controlled substance. A search of the driver vehicle revealed a quantity of four different controlled substances.
The driver, Jesse William Smith, 26 yrs, of Calgary, Alberta has been charged with possession of cocaine for the purpose of trafficking contrary to section 5(2) of the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act, possession of ketamine for the purpose of traffic contrary to section 5(2) of the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act, as well as two counts of possession of a controlled substance (fentanyl and MDMA) contary to section 4(1) of the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act.
Mr. Smith has been released before a Justice of the Peace and has his first court appearance in Cochrane on December 15, 2015.
