Cochrane RCMP – Grass Fire Along Highway 22 Update

UPDATE:

Rocky View Fire service has the fire under control and will continue to be on scene cleaning up hot spots. The cause of the fire was from a resident in the area burning garbage and embers, ignited the near by grass.  Rocky View County Peace Officers with Rocky View county Fire Investigator will be investigating whether the resident followed proper county procedures for burning. Hwy 22 has been reopened for traffic.

Original Release: Traffic Redirection Due to Grass fire Hwy 22

Cochrane RCMP is currently on scene assisting Rocky View county Fire Service with a Grass fire that is next to Hwy 22 between Hwy 567 and Township road 272. Heavy smoke is in the area and traffic is being diverted around Hwy 22 to the side roads.  RCMP is requesting motorist use alternate routes until the fire is put out. No homes or structures are threatened at this time.
