Stoney Nakoda First Nation, Alberta – On August 7, 2016 at 3:18 p.m. Cochrane RCMP responded to a complaint of a male found on the ground near the Chiniki Rodeo Grounds. The body of a 21 year old male of the Stoney Nakoda First Nation was located by the RCMP.
Southern Alberta RCMP Major Crimes has been deployed to manage the investigation as, based on preliminary findings, the death appears to be suspicious. Major Crimes is working in conjunction with Cochrane RCMP and the Calgary Medical Examiner’s office in order to determine the cause and manner of death. An autopsy is scheduled for Tuesday, August 9, 2016.
