Christmas Tree Collection in the Foothills

In Black Diamond:

When you are finished with this year’s Christmas Tree, you can place it out near your normal garbage bin location. Public Works staff will be making rounds until January 28th collecting trees. Fortis Alberta will be chipping the trees for us again this year – Thanks again to the folks at Fortis!

In Turner Valley:

The Town of Turner Valley Public Works Department will be collecting discarded Christmas trees until January 28. Please place your tree near your normal garbage bin location and they will be collected in due course.

Many thanks to Asplundh Canada ULC and Fortis Alberta Inc. for providing the woodchipping services.

Residents can also take their trees to the Transfer Station located outside of Black Diamond for composting. Transfer Station winter hours are 10am – 4pm Fridays and Saturdays.

In Okotoks:

Every year, the Town chips thousands of Christmas trees. Town crews will begin picking up Christmas trees January 16, 2015 on a neighbourhood by neighbourhood basis until all are collected.

·         Place your tree at your regular garbage/recycling collection area (lay it down on its side)

·         Remove the decorations, tree stand and screws

·         Do not put the tree in a plastic bag

Trees can also be self-hauled to the Okotoks BMX Park parking lot northeast of the Okotoks Recycling Centre.

In High River:

The Town of High River is encouraging residents to take their real Christmas trees to the yard waste drop-off centre after the holiday season to be recycled.

The yard waste drop-off centre is located behind the Sprung structures west of Co-op at 1225 1 Street S.E. and is open seven days a week. Please remove all decorations and tinsel before dropping off your tree.
