Toronto/Calgary – The Canadian Federation of Independent Business (CFIB) and Interac are giving Canadians the chance to show their favourite small businesses some love, and win a $500 shopping spree, through the #SmallBizLove contest.
“Canadians know that small businesses are the heart of their communities through their service, innovation, and dedication to growing local economies,” said CFIB President Dan Kelly. “This contest allows Canadians to recognize their favourite corner grocer, spa, mechanic or bistro, by telling other Canadians why they’re so terrific.”
Starting today, Twitter and Instagram users can nominate their choice small business using the #SmallBizLove hashtag. The contest runs through June 22. Creative tweeters and Instagram users who use the hashtag will be placed in a random draws daily for a chance to win a shopping spree at their favourite small business.
The most frequently nominated businesses can also win big. The top five businesses in regions across the country will be profiled in the lead-up campaign to Small Business Saturday in October.
“As returning sponsor for the 2015 Shop Small Biz campaign, we’re proud to help champion Canadian small businesses from coast-to-coast,” said Mark O’Connell, President and CEO, Interac Association and Acxsys Corporation. “We encourage Canadians to share the #SmallBizLove this summer and to choose an economical payment option, like Interac Debit, when they shop at their favourite local stores.”
The #SmallBizLove contest is run through ShopSmallBiz.ca, Canada’s only business directory exclusively for small and medium businesses, brought to you by CFIB in partnership with Interac. Small business owners are encouraged to register for a free online listing. Winners will be announced in July.
CFIB is Canada’s largest association of small and medium-sized businesses with 109,000 members across every sector and region.
